The Horshammeron
In the 1350’s Giovanni Boccaccio wrote the book “The Decameron.” It is a collection of 100 short stories varying in topic but many deal with romance and eroticism. Anyway, the framework for the short stories is that 5 Italian couples decide to flee Florence and escape to the Italian countryside to avoid the spreading of the Black Plague which is running rampant in the cities....

Wells Fargo: Keep Your Eyes, Hands (And Any Other... →
This is terrible, there is so much wasted time in meetings, and there are always important emails coming in. There is no good rationale for this. I think the rule should be you are allowed to check every 15 minutes. They can create a program on the Blackberry so when you are in a meeting, it is put in meeting mode and cannot be unlocked more than once every 15 minutes. (from HereIGoAgain)

Do surgical masks stop swine flu? →
I suppose everyone is caught up in this and the media is going hog wild (intended). I figure i would contribute to the melee, but only this once. Horshammed.com vows to not write any more about the swine flu (unless it becomes one of those diseases that wipes out 95% of the world’s population or turns them into zombies).

Great news. Players on the cover of Madden always get injured that season. Let’s hope the curse holds up for our buddy Troy.
I am considering outsourcing this blog.
George Brett gets gross →
I decided to post the link instead of embedding the video for two reasons. 1. I couldn’t figure out how to embed this one. 2. The topic of the video is fairly gross.
Thanks JT for the link.

Suggestions
The wife and I are taking a trip to Italy in a week and a half and I was wondering if any of you guys had any suggestions for incredible (yet affordable) places to stay in Positano, Capri or Rome.
Any suggestions (in the comments) would be appreciated. Thanks!
Palin considers abortion →
This is possibly the best argument for the Pro-Choice side that I have heard in a while. The fact that Palin even considered it for one second showed that she is pro-choice. The pro-choice movement is not in favor or abortion, nor is it against abortion. It stands up for the choice of women to decide whether or not they want an abortion and defends that right. Sarah Palin chose to have her...
Lawyer survives Hudson River flight, loses job →
Kind of interesting and somewhat topical to me because I like law. But it didn’t make sense for them not to fire him initially. I mean, what relevance did his plane crash landing have on the firm’s needs to layoff people. I think the argument is that he was unlucky to have crashed, so we can’t fire him the next day, that is too unlucky. I see it the other way. If he was...

I don;t really find this offensive, I actually find it more amusing than anything else. PS. Sorry about the lack of blogging the last few days, Passover ended last night, so horshammed.com should return to normal now.
Schedule presents conflict for Jewish New York... →
I find it surprising that Howard Katz made the schedule and didn’t realize this. I am predicting that Bart “yonkel” Scott will sit out the games just like Koufax. Strike 1 - Steal Rex Ryan and Bart Scott. Strike 2 - Scheding games over the high holidays. The only thing saving the Jets in my mind is the fact that I have access to tickets. Otherwise, they are dead to me. ...

Scariest part of the story is how quickly lawyers will be outnumbered! Nothing bad to say about this family, I have seen their shows and they are very pleasant. Amazing what an extra parent will do for your image (see conversely Octomom)

Rare 'four-out play' helps Dodgers down... →
This is an interesting article which can be slightly confusing. I think the umpires should have discussed the play with both teams before letting them take the field for the next inning..that would have been the fair move, if they knew there were special circumstances. Passenger lands plane in Fort Myers after pilot... →
This is kind of sensationalist journalism, IMO, because the headline makes you think some joe schmoe landed the plane, but really the guy is a pilot, just not for that particular plane. Granted, I am sure there are some inportant differences, but the general basics have to be the same. Also, I am pretty sure my dad could have done this and he has never flown a plane before in his life. (Well...

I have gotten a lot of similar questions over the last month and a half. “Why is www.horshammed.com still in beta?” The answer is cause it is beta than all the other blogs you read. (For those that didn;t get that joke, the beta should be pronounced like better.) (Feel free to tell me how lame this post was in the comments.)

Horshammed.com had a visitor the other day from the city of Dorking in the UK. Besides having an amazing name (although second in coolness to Horsham, also in the UK), it is the birthplace of Sir Laurence Olivier and Benjamin D’Israeli spent some time there. If you are reading this and you are from Dorking, please encourage all your friends to visit and if enough come, we can set up some...

Not a huge story because I bet if you asked most people on the street, they would already assume that Vermont has gay marriage. But now 8% of states have gay marriage, seems like the tide is turning ever so so slowly…

World Pillow Fight Day Marred by Detroit Police →
This is no joke! I remember in fifth grade, Benjy Blumenfeld was having a pillowfight with his brother (I beleive his name was Robbie) and he got knocked out cold by one blow. I think pillowfighting is more dangerous that it seems. But the bigger question is, who is taking time to grab a pillow and walk to a park for a pillow fight. Seems very strange.
Mazel Tov Candy Almost Blinds Gabbai →
(Courtesy of Rashard) I especially like Comment #8 in the comments. I think it is a pretty sill tradition to begin with, and I think I grew to like it even less when I was 12 and the old men in my row at shul made me still run up and get them candy even though I was about 6 years older than any other kids who went up to grab the candy.
Iowa Court Voids Gay Marriage Ban →
This is a HUGE step towards equality for all. It’s one thing when this happens on the “liberal” coasts, but for a state like Iowa to do this, it really is important. I cannot imagine how embarrassed this country is going to be in 30 years, when we look back and see how we denied our fellow citizens basic human rights.
